SWAT Students Making an Impact in Indian River County
March 16, 2026
Students across Indian River County are continuing to make a difference through Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT). With new members joining and exciting events taking place, the momentum for a tobacco-free future is growing in our community.
Our NEW community SWAT club recently kicked off with a fun and energetic Skate Night recruitment event. The event brought students together to learn about SWAT, connect with other youth advocates, and find out how they can get involved in promoting healthy, tobacco-free lifestyles. It was a great way to introduce the club while building excitement for the work ahead.

Meanwhile, the Indian River Charter High School SWAT Club is already hard at work planning their next event. Members are collaborating on new ideas to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco and nicotine products while encouraging their peers to make positive choices. Their leadership and dedication continue to inspire other students in the community.

Our Indian River County providers recently had the opportunity to connect with families at the annual Family Fun Fest. At the SWAT information table, community members stopped by to learn more about youth advocacy and tobacco prevention. Many people shared how happy they were to see SWAT active in Indian River County and appreciated that students are taking a stand for a healthier community.
These activities show how powerful youth voices can be. Through outreach events, school clubs, and community engagement, SWAT members are helping spread the message that young people care about their health and their future.
